In 2020, the Tennessee Arts Commission, in collaboration with the AIR Collaborative, initiated the training of Facilitators to organize community workshops aimed at establishing community projects for and by the communities in which the meetings were held. The Tennessee Arts Commission provided funding of $10,000, with the Campbell Culture Coalition, the local arts agency for Campbell County, acting as the funding manager. In 2023-24, community meetings took place at Postmark Lafollette and the Campbell County Chamber of Commerce, resulting in the development of the Follow the Elk project. This project is spearheaded by an independent committee of concerned citizens, and five local artists have been chosen to depict five sites, each of which holds significant historical and cultural value, in each of Campbell County’s five districts. These art pieces will be transferred to metal and placed on Elk markers throughout the county by July 2024, thus creating an Arts, Culture, and History Trail in Campbell County, with plans for additional sites in the future. Future plans include the installation of these elk markers in more sites throughout the county.
